President's Message

It is my privilege to serve the Blue Bell Rotary Club as we enter the 2026–2027 Rotary year — a year built around a powerful idea: Create Lasting Impact.

This year's Rotary International President, Olayinka H. Babalola, drew a distinction that has stayed with me since I first heard it: "Change is only the beginning. Impact is what endures." That simple truth has become the lens through which our club will approach everything we do this year — every service project, every meeting, every interaction with our community.

At Blue Bell Rotary, we've always believed that service is personal. It shows up in the mentoring of a young person, in the generosity of a fundraiser, in the quiet act of checking in on a fellow member. Maya Angelou once said, "People will forget what you said. People will forget what you did. But people will never forget how you made them feel." I am a true believer in this. It's the little things — a moment of kindness, an act of generosity toward a stranger — that people carry with them long after. They may not remember your name, but they will never forget how you made them feel. That is lasting impact, and every member of our club has the power to create it.

For over 35 years, the Rotary Club of Blue Bell has been a force for good in our community, guided by the motto "Service Above Self." Our members give generously of their time — mentoring and supporting local youth, hosting fundraising events like our annual Blue Bell Horizons Celebration, and partnering with nonprofit organizations that serve children, families, and neighbors in need. The needs in our community are real, and so is our commitment to meeting them.

Our service also reaches far beyond Montgomery County. Blue Bell Rotarians support dental and medical missions abroad, disaster relief efforts, and global humanitarian initiatives that change lives across the world. One project at a time, we work to create the kind of impact that endures.

We are proud to be part of Rotary International — a global network of over 46,000 clubs and 1.4 million members united by a shared dedication to service, integrity, and fellowship. Across the globe, Rotarians work in seven focus areas: promoting peace, fighting disease, providing clean water and sanitation, supporting education, saving mothers and children, growing local economies, and protecting the environment. These are not just causes — they are commitments that Rotary members live out every day, in communities large and small.

This year, our club is also embracing a collaborative leadership model that draws on the experience and talents of our past presidents, who will share in guiding the club throughout the year. It is a reflection of the depth and spirit of service that defines Blue Bell Rotary — and a living example of what it means to do this work together.

If you are looking for a place to connect with people who care deeply about making a difference — locally and globally — we would love to meet you. The Blue Bell Rotary Club meets most Tuesday mornings from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. at College Hall on the Montgomery County Community College campus. Guests are always welcome. On the last Tuesday of each month, we gather at a local restaurant for a casual social, supporting local businesses and building deeper connections among members and guests. Check our calendar for details.

I'll close with the words of RI President Babalola: "When we change ourselves, we change our clubs. When we change our clubs, we change the communities we serve. And when we change our communities, we create lasting impact."

We hope you'll join us.

Peter,
President (July 2026), Blue Bell Rotary Club
