Community Service
What is Community Service? The primary objective and foundation of this committee is to uplift the township, strengthen our greater community connection, and help provide vital resources to those in need. We do much of this by partnering with area non-profits such as: Family Promise of Montgomery County, Wissahickon Valley Boys and Girls Club, and Do Better 4 Steve. We also partner with Whitpain Township Parks and Recreation and Montgomery County Community College to provide citizens and students more rewarding experiences. The work we do, is very rewarding and fulfilling; acts of kindness goes a long way and brings us together. To highlight a recent project, we collaborated with Brother House, where men come weekly for a hot shower, clean clothes, and a nourishing meal. We raised $2,500 to put in new flooring in the building and then volunteered to install it. This year we also secured and matched a grant to help launch Family Promise’s new 24-hour accessible storage lockers for families with food insecurities. These are just several ways our members enjoy getting involved and make a difference. The Committee Chair, Andy Johanson, describes it as “we have fun, while we get things done!”
Maintaining Rotary's motto "SERVICE ABOVE SELF" ... Rotarians around the world engage in service projects as "hands on" participants and/or as financial backers. The Rotary Club of Blue Bell initiates service ventures, often partnering with other organizations to accomplish them. Through the years we've supported an extensive number of projects within our community, our nation and the world.
