It does not get any better than an opportunity to brighten smiles! For many years Blue Bell Rotary Club has worked closely with Chariots for Hope ( https://youtu.be/Mrp-t-BPY4M ). Since 2015, BBRC has helped send four dental  teams to improve the overall health of the children and communities supported by Chariots for Hope.

These teams are made up of dental hygienists and other volunteers. We work with local dentists in Kenya. We collect hundreds of toothbrushes and all the additional supplies needed to provide oral health care. Preparing a team to work in conditions that do not include a consistent source of power or routine dental equipment is a challenge! During our last trip, in June 2025, we were able to provide oral health care education to all, 419 prophies, 335 fluoride varnish treatments, 444 silver diamine applications, and 110 extractions over 6 clinical days. 2025 was our fourth visit to the Mukaa Children’s Home and a second visit to the Kitui Baby Home and the Mulango Children’s Home. Having the opportunity to return to these communities reinforces the importance of good oral habits. We have seen sustained improvements to the oral health of these children and adults!

Karen Kessler, a member of Rotary Club of Blue Bell, joined the Kenya Mission for the first time this year. Here’s what she had to say; “Even though I’m not a dental professional I was eager to join the Kenya dental mission and support in whatever way I could. The mission was everything Rotary is all about—turning compassion into action. The children’s joy and the noticeable impact we made, reminded me that service changes us as much as it helps others.”
