“Transformed” may just be the word used to describe Camp Neidig participants’ response about how they felt at the end of the 4-day weekend in June, 2025. Seven rising senior Wissahickon High School students were identified and sponsored by Blue Bell Rotary club to attend this incredible leadership experience with another 90 students from our region, sponsored by their local Rotary Clubs.

Bruce Dearnley, our Camp Neidig Coordinator, talks about the uniqueness of this leadership program, where the students were split into teams, each team had overall responsibility for an element of the weekend, and each team member took on a leader role. These were very high energy activities that required leaders to make decisions under challenging conditions and then implement those decisions. In addition to the team activities, there were stimulating seminars provided by leaders in Industry and Government.

The program culminated on Monday night with presentations. Students’ families were invited to witness this and got to see a glimpse of the depth of bonding that has occurred among strangers—true camaraderie. Students left this program feeling more knowledgeable, more confident, and holding new perspectives. Many of them said it was the “best weekend of their life”.

As the months and years pass, we cannot wait to see what unfolds for our seven leader-students from this year’s program. Learn more about Camp Neidig at: https://www.campneidig.com/
