What’s better than a great party with fabulous food and drink?  How about a great party that also helps many worthy causes, especially causes that benefit children.  That’s what you’ll find at Blue Bell Rotary Club’s 10th annual Chefs of the ‘Burbs, an evening that features food from some of the most outstanding restaurants in the area.  Once again, the theme for the gala is It’s All About Kids.  Blue Bell Rotary is also celebrating its 25th anniversary as a Rotary Club, and they are pulling out all the stops this year.  Club President Randy Brock notes that, “Thanks to Chefs, we provided over $100,000 to local, regional and international charities and projects last year, and we are aiming even higher for our Chefs event this year.”

Dave Wyher, who is chairing the Chefs of the ‘Burbs this year, added, “We also want to exceed all prior Chefs evenings in terms of the quality of the food and auction items.  We are being very selective in inviting restaurants to participate, and we are very excited about the mix that our guests will enjoy.”

This year’s Chefs will be held on Thursday, October 8, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at PineCrest Country Club, 101 Country Club Drive, Lansdale, PA.  Wyher said, “We moved it up two weeks from prior Chefs, because we want to take advantage of the lovely covered terrace area at PineCrest.  Late October was too chilly.”

In addition to the excellent food, wine and beer, guests will have the opportunity to bid on a great selection of items in both a silent auction and a live auction.  The live auction items are particularly special, and will include such unique offerings as a Napa Valley Getaway, a golf and accommodations package for Pinehurst, Private hands-on cooking for 16 people, and Eagles tickets for four.

So who benefits from all of this, besides the guests?  Wyher explained that “100% of the ticket and auction proceeds go to the Blue Bell Rotary Foundation, or to our two great event partners, the Wissahickon Valley Boys and Girls Club and the Inter-Faith Housing Alliance.  The Foundation funds all of our charitable giving and projects, such as the well water project we sponsored in Kenya and the prenatal and neonatal project that we created in Uganda.”

Blue Bell Rotary gives thanks to the corporate sponsors of the event, whose generous contributions cover all of the costs, allowing all of the ticket and auction proceeds go to these causes.  Blue Bell Rotary is especially grateful to Univest, which is serving as major sponsor for Chefs for the 4th year in a row. And, we're excited to welcome Tycor Benefit Administrators as a first year sponsor.
